About Us
Parent Prep was founded in 2017 by Caroline Rowles and Julia Walker-Brown and we are based in the Horsforth area of North Leeds.
We are an organisation providing non-judgemental antenatal education – arming local parents-to-be with the knowledge and confidence to prepare for the arrival of their baby.
Julia
Hi, I’m Julia. First and foremost, I am a Mummy to a super (ish!) 8 year old girl, Libby! I am also a registered and practicing Nurse and a Midwife. In my early Nursing career I worked with families during early pregnancy. As a Midwife I worked on the labour ward and in the maternity operating theatre. Latterly I have worked in research that explored how to make sure patients were safe and had a good experience when receiving NHS care. My current job involves making sure that healthcare services in Leeds are good quality, this includes maternity services.
I am passionate about choice in birth and parenting. Having supported hundreds of families to give birth to their babies, I firmly believe that there is no ‘right’ way to have and care for a baby; there is only the right birth on the day and the right way for you. I am a committed advocate for parents and want to make sure parents to be have a great experience of pregnancy and birth and make a happy transition to parenthood.
I want to use my skills and experiences to support parents-to-be to explore all of the information available to them and understand different sources of knowledge. I love to support parents to be well informed and confident to make birth and parenting decisions.
Finally, giving birth is only the start! I am determined to offer new parents the support they need after their baby is born. I work hard to make sure that friendships with other parents grow so you can support each other through the highs and lows of early parenthood and everything in between!
